The Universal Christian Church of the New Jerusalem strongly condemns the cowardly and shocking terrorist attack in Bondi Beach, Sydney (Australia), carried out against defenceless citizens celebrating their religious feast. The Church conveys her closeness to the families involved and her sincere condolences and prayers for the victims of this attack.

God has commanded everyone, “Thou shalt not kill”. Life is sacred. Equally sacred is the right of anyone to profess their religious beliefs, while respecting others.

Those who kill others in the name of purported religious beliefs are not acting in God’s name.
