Press Release
Christian Blood Shed in Nigeria
on Palm Sunday”

30 March 2026

The Universal Christian Church of the New Jerusalem condemns with profound outrage and deep sorrow the attack carried out on 29 March, Palm Sunday, against the Christian communities of Jos, in Nigeria’s Plateau State.

Armed assailants opened fire in the areas of Angwa Rukuba, Eto Baba, and surrounding residential neighborhoods, sowing terror and death among students and local residents. At least ten Christians lost their lives and many others were injured.

A similar assault in the same region had already claimed the lives of 54 people on Palm Sunday in 2025. The recurrence of such atrocities reveals a deliberate strategy aimed at targeting Christians during the most sacred moments of their faith.

The Church draws close with all its love to the families of the victims, to the wounded, and to all those living under persecution. She raises her prayer to the Father, that the sacrifice of these martyrs may not fall into oblivion, and makes an urgent appeal to the international community to intervene without further delay to protect Christians in Nigeria.

I am the resurrection and the life.
Whoever believes in me, even though he die, will live”.
(Jn 11:25)
