Press Release
Nigeria:
Persecution shows no sign of stopping”

6 March 2026

The Universal Christian Church of the New Jerusalem continues to speak out against the escalating violence targeting Christian communities across Nigeria. The assaults recorded in the last few weeks show how terror has become a systemic reign of terror that shows no signs of abating.

Between 2 and 4 March, seven Christians were killed and seventeen others abducted during raids on communities in Kachia County, in the south of Kaduna State.

This follows an earlier incident on 27 February, in which eleven members of the predominantly Christian Adara tribe were kidnapped by Fulani militiamen.

On 22 February, one hundred Fulani militiamen stormed rural Christian communities in Bauchi State, leaving a trail of destruction and death in their wake. Witnesses report that the assailants were explicitly targeting Christians, forcing thousands of families to flee their ancestral lands and seek refuge in neighbouring districts.

Furthermore, on 20 February, a Christian merchant was executed outside his home in Kachia County, while his wife and children were abducted under the cover of night.

This Church strongly urges the international community not to ignore this endless tragedy and stands united in prayer with our brothers and sisters who risk their lives every day for their faith in Christ the Lord.

God, come to my rescue, Lord, come quickly to my help! Shame and dishonour on those who are out to kill me! Back with them, cover them with confusion, those who delight in my misfortunes”.
