PONTIFICAL DECREE
Establishment of the Feast of the Seven Archangels
INTRODUCTION
Traditionally, September 29 is the day dedicated to the Feast of the Archangels Michael (Dan 12,1; Jude 9; Rev 12,7-12), Gabriel (Dan 8,15-27, 9,20-27; Lk 1,8-20, 26-38) and Raphael (Tb 3,16-17; 5,4-6; 6,10-19; 7,9; 8,2-3; 9,1-6; 11,1-14; 12,6-22), whose names are mentioned in the Sacred Scriptures;
In particular, the Sacred Scriptures explicitly state that there are seven Archangels: “I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand ever ready to enter the presence of the glory of the Lord”. (Tb12,15). Furthermore, in the Apocalypse there are several references that describe the action of the Seven Archangels (Rev 1,20; 8,1-2.6; 15,1.5-8; 16,1; 17,1; 21,9);
Jesus revealed to Maria Giuseppina Norcia that: “the Archangel Michael is the Defender; the Archangel Gabriel is the Announcer; the Archangel Raphael is the Guide’’ (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia on 02/10/1983);
‘My child, the Archangels are seven: one for each angelic choir; each one has a different task. The ones who are better known to you, though, are: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, since they work especially on Earth. The Archangels are pure spirits made of Light, but when they need to reveal themselves to you, they take on a body that can be that of a simple man, or they retain their wings and their tunic of a specific colour, each colour has its own meaning, a colour, however, that can be distinguished. Gabriel is the Archangel who announces, significant events. Raphael cures diseases. Michael is constantly fighting against satan and his followers. The Archangels are constantly taking care of the things of God on earth: only if men do not listen to them does their mission fail. They are highly active among you now, and they have the People of God in their care. Blessed are those who have an Archangel at their side! He avails Himself of a host of Angels entrusted to Him in times of need. Archangels and Angels are always present in religious services and in the prayers of sincere souls. They are powerful intermediaries between God and man, and they are unassailable by the forces of evil. Always pray to these Archangels and you will receive great assistance in both your spiritual and material needs’’ (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ’The Archangels‘, 29/09/1986);
’’The Angels and Archangels are happy to help you defeat evil. Pray to them! And they, along with their prayers, will also offer your prayers to the Father’’. (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ’The Greatest Sacrarium There Is“, 29/09/1986).
PREFACE
The Harmony of Heaven
In Heaven, everything is dominated by Love. Love is God the Almighty Father, Creator of all things, visible and invisible. Love is Christ, the Son of the living God, Love made Person, the Word made flesh. Love is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of love, the enlightening Fire, the Fire that guides the souls and helps them to ascend towards Heaven.
In Heaven there is a living and holy balance, where prayer is constant and everlasting, where Love dwells: Love reigns and is the Centre.
In Heaven there is a distinction of roles and tasks, of manifestation; but every action contributes to the only Good: to receive and convey Love, to live for Love.
Love moves everything. And everyone, Angels and Saints, yearn to receive Love. They receive Love from God in order to convey Love, on Earth as it is in Heaven.
DISCUSSION
The Seven Archangels
From the Revelation of Jesus to Mary G. Norcia, ‘The Archangels’, 29/09/1986: ‘The Archangels are seven: one for each angelic choir; each one has a different task. The ones who are better known to you, though, are: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, since they work especially on Earth.’.The Seven Archangels are:
Michael: the Defender of God, the Victorious One;
Michael, by divine order, is the Head of the Angels and Archangels, to unite everyone in the victorious Lamb. Michael is the one who continually fights and wins against the enemy of God and the rebellious angels. Every intervention of the Archangel Michael is of universal significance.
Gabriel: God’s Announcer;
Gabriel is the one who announces, who brings news, who makes the divine Will known; he is the one who, at the same time, invites people to listen, so that the divine Will might be accepted.
Raphael: God’s Medicine and Guide;
Raphael is the one who heals, the one who is called to help heal especially the wounds of the soul, to resurrect the spirit; Raphael shows the Way, guides hearts to walk the right Path to arrive directly at the Heart of the One who is, Christ, Eternal Medicine, Balm of the heart, soul and spirit.
Uriel: Fire and Fortitude of God;
Uriel is the one who tempers every heart so that the hearts that entrust themselves to him may embody Christ, Love made Flesh, the one who leads everyone to the one Light, Christ, who now more than ever will dispel every fog, illuminate the path, the last point to reach the finish line for every son of God;
Sealtiel: Balance;
Sealtiel is the one who gives God’s holy people the right balance in order to live humanity and manifest holiness. Every man who proclaims his name will praise God with faith so that God may be placed above anything.
Geudiel: the Remunerator;
Geudiel is the one who receives prayers and, by God’s Will, dispenses His graces. Geudiel rewards everything that is asked for with sincere faith; and, according to the Father’s Will, the Father will bestow His grace.
Barachiel: Contemplation.
Barachiel is the one who contemplates, the one who watches: he looks to God, so that in prayer we may contemplate and see God: contemplate God in order to live His Will, Love and Holiness to the full.

The Seven Archangels and all the Angels insist on the one Action, at God’s Command.
The colours associated with the Seven Archangels and their appearances
From the Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The Archangels’, 29/09/1986: ‘The Archangels are pure spirits made of Light, but when they need to reveal themselves to you, they take on a body that can be that of a simple man, or they retain their wings and their tunic of a specific colour, each colour has its own meaning, a colour, however, that can be distinguished’(…)
Blue: Barachiel
Blue evokes fervent prayer, which will make everyone understand more and more the eternal Light;
Green: Geudiel
Green evokes hope and the grassy pastures of the Holy City, where one can walk in the shadow of God;
Red: Sealtiel
Red must be the sign of fervent passion for the Father’s will, in order to embody it and bring it to life;
Black: Uriel
Black is the sign of those who never bow down before humanity, but it makes one strong and holy in the one true Love;
Brown: Raphael
Brown is the sign of living obedience which, through sacrifice, makes us understand how we must be ready for God’s Command;
White: Gabriel
White is the colour of holiness that belongs to the sons of God, a sign of living purity that manifests itself with love, in order to instruct people and bring everyone back under the only Shepherd, who in the sign of Light manifests eternity, the only Eternity that will pierce human time to make everyone victorious and bring everyone before His Throne;
Light: Michael
Light manifests the Victorious One, where there is the Throne of Glory and absolute Holiness.
The Seven Angelic Choirs
Around the Throne, which is the Centre, the Summit, there are Seven Angelic Choirs. Each Choir is made up of myriads of angels. At the head of each Angelic Choir, to which countless Angels belong, there is an Archangel who governs it. Each Archangel belongs to the Choir he governs. Each Choir reflects a Virtue and what the Virtue must follow, so that in the union of the Choirs, hymns can be sung to the One who is, to bring everyone back into the eternal Light. Each Angelic Choir knows what to do, how to act, how to perform every action, how to bear fruit in abundance. The Angelic Choirs form concentric circles placed on a single horizontal plane that merge in the Centre, where the Throne of God resides, becoming a single Circle that has neither beginning nor end. The Seven Angelic Choirs are those of:
Cherubim
The Cherubim are those who pay the utmost attention to what happens on Earth: they report the actions of the Archangels and make every action luminous. They all live in total harmony, knowing that their help to the people is alive. They share in the final result. They praise God and dispense His graces. They welcome the prayers that rise from Earth and, along with their prayers and songs, bring them directly to the Throne of the Lamb, so that everything may fall back and contribute to the supreme Good, which is the Salvation of souls.
Seraphim
The Seraphim are those who shine with brightness and love, who give brilliance to the heart, so that every action may have a complete effect and enrich the hearts of those who receive the action. The Seraphim have their gaze fixed between Heaven, and therefore the Face of Jesus, and Earth. Hence the word and name “Seraphim”: purity and holiness.
Powers
The Powers are those who manifest the power of God given to those who, in the Name of God, want to serve the Father, the Supreme Good. They distribute His Good to all, without keeping for themselves what has been received: the power granted by the Father to the sons of God. What is important is not what one obtains but what one gives. In the world, the powerful were the ones who kept for themselves and owned a lot. In the divine realm, the Powers are those who distribute a lot.
Dominations
The Dominations are those who welcome every thought, every holy action and bring it back to the Father, so that the Father may dispense all His goodness on those in need and dominate those hearts with all His Love so as not to lose them again.
Thrones
The Thrones are those who make prayer their incessant daily routine, because, seated and victorious, they offer everything that the Father gives them for the good of humanity, for the Good, so that it may triumph over evil. Prayer is alive and incessant. They point to the Way that leads to the Throne on which the King of kings and Lord of lords sits.
Supreme Angels
The Supreme Angels are the guardians of the Temple, those who scrutinise, watch over, but above all instil security in all the holy people. These Angels embody fidelity and yearn to transmit to everyone the living will to persevere in faith: to fight the good fight and preserve the faith, facing every vicissitude of life by entrusting oneself in every circumstance to the Supreme Good, then proclaiming His Name, defending Him, in order to defend oneself with faith in the one God. They are the chosen Angels: those who live constantly only in Heaven, in the presence and at the Command of God. They are supreme Angels, but this does not mean that there is inequality among the angels; there are different tasks and roles, but all together, in unison, they act under the one Command of God.
Ambassadors
The Seventh Angelic Choir is placed where the Throne of God is: a single level that will level everything. The Angels belonging to this Choir are the Ambassadors of the Word, of the Verb, which is God. They bring to Earth the message that Heaven wants to send from time to time, whether it is a warning or something else. The Ambassador is the one who announces what is imminent. The delicacy of their task is to know how to interpret and receive every message, the announcement of every event, which is followed by action.
The task of the Archangels
From the Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The Archangels’, 29/09/1986: ‘The Archangels continually take care of God’s affairs on earth: only if men do not listen to them does their mission fail’ (…) ‘Blessed is he who has an Archangel by his side! He makes use of a host of Angels entrusted to him, in cases of necessity’.
The moment every human being comes into the world, God the Father assigns a guardian angel (or an Archangel) to each one, until death, when the soul goes back to God. From the Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The Archangels’, 29/09/1986: “Archangels and Angels are always present in religious services and in the prayers of sincere souls. They are powerful intermediaries between God and men, and they are unassailable by the forces of evil‘. (…) ’Always pray to these Archangels and you will receive great help in both your spiritual and material needs“.
The more docile men are and listen to their Guardian Angels and Archangels (praying to them every day, establishing a living and total dialogue with them), the more the evil one and his angels will be unable to harm them. Angels and Archangels assist men with great effectiveness in every need of life, both spiritual and material.
The Golden Staircase
Mary Most Holy revealed to Maria G. Norcia that in the Little Cradle of Baby Jesus there is a Golden Staircase, a Staircase of Light, which connects Heaven and Earth. “In the Chapel I see St Joseph… So much light surrounds him. With his gaze, he makes me notice a large staircase of light, very bright, down which Our Lady is descending with the Child in Her arms. How beautiful she is! She’s accompanied by many Angels and Saints with the sound of trumpets. Once down, She sits on the Throne, places the Child on Her knees and they all prostrate at Her feet to honour Her. I also see many souls, like figures of light, ascending and descending. Our Lady says: «The golden staircase is the passage between Heaven and the Jerusalem, where all the true sons of God ascend. Souls who are incapable of doing good to God and to their neighbour have no access to it. (Revelation of Mary Most Holy to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The Divine Family and the Golden Ladder’, 25/12/1988). In the New Jerusalem, a corner of Paradise on Earth, God has placed the Staircase, glimpsed by the Patriarch Jacob (Gn 28,12): the Staircase where one can ascend and contemplate the wonders of God, the connecting Staircase that the Angels and Saints cross daily to praise God and dispense His graces on Earth.
The Angels and Archangels ascend and descend at God’s command from this Ladder to renew the Earth and draw people of good will into ever deeper communion with God, carrying out every task, every mission, to ensure that God’s Work bears fruit in all the hearts that want to welcome the divine Will.
