Gospel: Mattew, Chapter 24, verses 30-31
Homily of the Pontiff Samuel
Feast of the Seven Archangels
These are their Names, these are their roles,
these are the 7 Angelic Choirs
(Draft)
Behold the Sign of the Son of God, He who came down Here to dwell in His Little Cradle. And He will send His Angels with a great trumpet; and they will gather all His chosen ones from the four winds (Act of Magisterium, ‘The Trumpet has blared: this is the call for every authentic Christian’, 17 August 2025), from one end of the heavens to the other (Mt 24:30-31).
This is what the Gospel proclaims today, and this is what the Mother Church proclaims today, on this Sunday, the Feast of the Archangels, during these days of celebration that will lead us to live the Feast of the Seven Archangels. The Mother Church will proclaim and reveal them today so that, from now on, the 29 of September may no longer be just the Feast of the Three Archangels until now known, but may become the Feast of the Seven Archangels whom we will now come to know, so that we may pray to them and, all together, with one voice, united with the Archangels and the Angels of Heaven, we may praise God, the Only Begotten God, One and Triune, because now everything comes to life. And those who are called to sound the Trumpet must be known and prayed, invoked and venerated by the people of God (Rev 8:6) so that, I say again, together, we may praise the one God.
Behold the Sign. Behold this Little Cradle, Little Cradle of the Child Jesus, the beating Heart of the nascent Church (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The greatest Sacrarium there is’, 29 Sept. 1986) from where God the Almighty Father wanted to give humanity the Sign of the Birth and Rebirth of the Son of God, a tangible Sign that can be lived in this Church: the Son of God, the King, King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev 19:16).
Behold the Little Cradle, the Door that connects this Earth to Heaven. Passing through the Door of God means to be in the City of God, to enter into the Mystery of God and to fully know Him. It also means wanting to wholeheartedly know He Who is, He who gave the inestimable gift of Life. Behold the Golden Stairway (Revelation of Mary Most Holy to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The Divine Family and the Golden Ladder’, 25 Dec. 1988) where to ascend and contemplate the wonders of God; that Stairway that the Patriarch Jacob glimpsed (Gen 28:12) and that now all the sons of God can see with the eyes of light and see the Angels and Archangels, the Saints ascending and descending this Stairway, so that from Heaven they may increasingly unite with the holy People of God and form, with them, a single host that wants to bring everyone to Salvation.
Here is the Revelation given – throughout time and betimes – by Mary Most Holy to Her Maiden. This Revelation is called ‘The Divine Family and the Golden Ladder’, on which Mary descends together with the Angels and Saints, so that Her Child, that Divine Child destined to be King of all peoples, may dwell in this Little Cradle. He will gather His flock here, all those who are scattered, so that they all may be gathered under one Shepherd (Jn 10:16).
Behold the Feast of the Archangels, whom we celebrate today in order to unite ourselves more closely with their hearts and their mission. This is the task assigned to the Archangels by the Father. Furthermore, in another Revelation, Heaven has once again wanted to speak to the Maiden of God (Act of Magisterium, ‘Maria G. Norcia’, 21 Jan. 2019) and consequently to speak to the people who gathered around this Little Cradle – betimes and throughout time (Rev 21:3). In the Revelation called ‘The Archangels’, already in 1986 , Jesus said: “The Archangels continually take care of the things of God on earth: only if men do not listen to them does their mission fail. […] Blessed is he who has an Archangel by his side! The Archangel has a host of Angels at his service, entrusted to him, in cases of need” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ’The Archangels“, 29 Sept. 1986). Everyone has an Angel or Archangel assigned by the Father from the moment they are born. This is true for everyone. And the Angels will accompany the men and women assigned and entrusted to them, until death, until their souls return to the Father.
This is why everyone must be aware of the gift that God has given to each person and why they should strive to live in ever closer communion with their Guardian Angel, with their Archangel.
Jesus also says: «The Archangels and Angels are always present in the religious services and in the prayers of sincere souls. They are powerful intermediaries between God and men, and impervious to the forces of evil. Always pray to these Archangels and you will receive great help in your spiritual and material necessities» (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Archangels”, 29 Sept. 1986).
This is God’s invitation to His sons. In light of these words, we now understand that the Seven Archangels are here with us, all Seven of them, present at this religious service; and they want to make themselves known, so that everyone may experience them more and more: know and live, know and pray to them, so that these Angels, Princes of Angels (Eph 1:21), may help us to the full.
The more docile men are and listen to their Angels (praying to them every day, establishing a lively and total dialogue with them), the less the evil one and his angels can do nothing harmful towards God’s sons (Rev 12:7-9), nothing! The Angels and Archangels assist men with great effectiveness in every need of life (we have heard), both material and spiritual.
Today, the Mother Church, through a special Pontifical Decree (Pontifical Decree, ‘Establishment of the Feast of the Seven Archangels’, 28 Sept. 2025), proclaims the Seven Archangels, establishing the Feast, but above all, proclaiming their names and revealing all that is experienced in Heaven together with the Archangels (Rev 5:11).
Here are the Seven Archangels, as Jesus said: “the Archangels are seven: one for each angelic choir; each one has a different task. The ones who are better known to you, though, are: Michael, Gabriel and Raphael, since they work especially on Earth” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Archangels”, 29 Sept. 1986). Jesus also said: ‘The Archangels are pure spirits made of Light, but when they need to reveal themselves to you, they take on a body that can be that of a simple man, or they retain their wings and their tunic of a specific colour, each colour has its own meaning, a colour, however, that can be distinguished’ (Revelation of Jesus to Mary G. Norcia, ‘The Archangels’, 29 Sept. 1986).
Therefore: Seven Archangels. We also understand this from the Sacred Scriptures when, in the Book of Tobit, the Archangel Raphael, introducing himself, said: «I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who are always ready to enter the presence of the majesty of the Lord» (Tb 12:15).
Jesus writes this – through His Spirit – in the Sacred Scriptures and reveals it to His Maiden. Therefore: Seven Archangels, Seven Angelic Choirs. Then there is mention of bodies: The Archangels can take on human form. Then there is mention of the colours that distinguish the Archangels.
Here are the Seven Archangels:
Michael, the Defender of God, the Victorious One. His colour: the Light. Michael is the Leader of the Angels and Archangels, bringing them all to converge to the victorious Lamb (Rev 5:12). Michael is he who continuously fights and wins against the enemy of God and the rebellious angels. Every intervention of the Archangel Michael is of universal relevance.
Gabriel: Gabriel is the Announcer. The colour that characterises him: White. Gabriel is he who announces, who delivers news, who elucidates the divine Will (Lk 1:19); he also invites the people to listen, so that they may fully embrace the divine Will.
Raphael: Medicine and Guide of God. His characteristic colour: Brown. Raphael is he who heals, he who is called to help heal primarily the wounds of the soul and revive the spirit; Raphael shows the Way, guides the hearts to walk along the right Way (Tb 5:4-6), thus leading them directly to the Heart of He who is, Christ, the Eternal Medicine and Balm of the heart, soul and spirit.
Uriel: Fire and Fortress of God. His colour: Black. Uriel is he who tempers every heart so that the hearts who entrust themselves to him may embody the Love made Person, Christ, and lead everyone to the one Light, Christ, that Light which now will dispel every fog more than ever, and will illuminate the path, the last point to reach the goal for every son of God.
Sealtiel: Equilibrium. His characteristic colour: Red. Sealtiel is he who gives God’s holy people the right balance to live humanity manifesting holiness. Those who proclaim his name will praise God with faith so that God may be placed above all things.
Jehudiel: the Rewarder. The colour that characterises him: Green. Jehudiel is he who welcomes prayers and, by God’s Will, dispenses His graces. Jehudiel rewards all that is asked with sincere faith; and, according to the Father’s Will, the Father will bestow His grace.
Barachiel: Contemplation. His characteristic colour: Blue. Barachiel is he who contemplates, he who looks: ‘looking to God’, so that in prayer, we may contemplate and see God; contemplate God in order to fully live His Will, Love and Holiness.
The Seven Archangels and all the Angels persevere in the one Action at God’s Command, and each Archangel is at the head of an Angelic Choir. Seven Archangels, Seven Angelic Choirs.
At the apex, where the Throne of God is (Rev 4:2-6), in Heaven, there is a single level, a single horizontal level; and around the Throne there are the Seven Angelic Choirs forming concentric circles that merge at the Centre, so to form, in the fusion of the Seven Choirs, the one single Choir.
Each Archangel is the head of a Choir made up of myriads of Angels, and that Archangel belongs to his Choir. Each Choir represents a Virtue, and in the union of the Choirs, hymns and prayers are raised to God (Rev 7:11-12). Each choir knows what to do, how to act, how to perform every action so that it may bear fruit, fruit, and only fruit.
These are the Seven Angelic Choirs.
The Choir of Cherubim: they are those who pay the maximum attention to what happens on Earth (Ezekiel 10:1-4). They report the actions of the Archangels and make every action luminous. They provide a living help to people. They share in the final result. They praise God and dispense His graces; they welcome the prayers rising from the Earth and bring them to the Throne of the Lamb through their own prayers and songs, for the salvation of souls (Rev 7:9-10).
Then there is the Choir of Seraphim. ‘Seraphim’: purity and holiness. They are those who shine with brightness and love, giving brilliance to all hearts, so that every action may have a complete effect enriching the hearts of those who receive it. The Seraphim direct their gaze between Heaven, —that is the Countenance of Jesus— and Earth (Jn 1:51).
Then there is the Choir of Powers: those who manifest the power of God given to those who, in the Name of God, want to serve the Father, the Supreme Good. They spread His Goodness to everyone, without keeping for themselves what they received: the power granted by the Father to the sons of God. It should be well understood that, in the world, the powers were those who kept many things for themselves and had much for themselves. In the divine realm, however, according to God’s thinking, the Powers are those who distribute abundantly.
Then there is the Choir of Dominations, who are those who welcome every thought and every holy action relaying them to the Father (Col 1:16), so that the Father may bestow all His goodness upon the holy fruit in need and rule over their hearts with all His Love, to never lose them again.
Then there is the Choir of Thrones: they are those who make of prayer their unceasing daily practice, because, seated and victorious, they offer everything that the Father gives them for the good of humanity, for the Good, so that Good may triumph over evil. Prayer is alive and unceasing (1Th 5:17). They indicate the Way that leads to the Throne on which sits the King of kings and Lord of lords.
Then there are the last two Choirs that no one has never ever been able to know.
There is the Choir of Supreme Angels: they are the guardians of the Temple, those who scrutinise, observe and principally instil confidence in all the holy People. These Angels embody fidelity and seek to transmit to all the strong will to persevere in faith: to fight the good fight and preserve the faith, facing every vicissitude of life by entrusting themselves in every circumstance to the Supreme Good, so proclaiming His Name, defending Him, in order to defend themselves with faith in the one true God (Eph 6:16). They are the chosen Angels: those who live constantly only in Heaven, in the presence of God. They are the supreme Angels, but this does not imply inequality among the angels; there are different tasks and roles, but all together, in unison, they act under the one Command of God (Ps 102:20-21).
Then there is the last Choir, where the Summit is, where the Throne is, where the Centre is (and on that Throne sits the victorious Lamb): the Choir of Ambassadors. The Angels belonging to this Choir are the Ambassadors of the Word, of the Word who is God (Jn 1:14). They deliver the message that Heaven wants to send to Earth from time to time, whether it is a warning or otherwise. The Ambassador announces what is imminent (Rev 14:6-7). Their task is delicate: they must know how to interpret and receive every message, the announcement of every event, which is followed by action.
