Gospel: Mark, Chapter 2, verses 18–22
Homily of the Pontiff Samuel
On one side the Bridegroom has come down,
on the other, mourning and fasting.
And the City is divided into three
(Draft: Automatic Translation)
Beloved brothers and sisters, here the Feast is alive, ongoing and vibrant. Here the Banquet is ready and the King has called His children to the Banquet (Mt 22:2–4). And so the children are ready not to fast, but to celebrate, to feed on the living Bread that has come down from Heaven (Act of the Magisterium, “True Communion with the living Bread that has come down from Heaven”, 02/06/2024) and to drink the new Wine together with Him who promised that He would drink it new in the Kingdom. And the promise has been kept because here the Kingdom of God has been established with the coming of the Child Jesus; and here are the children called from the crossroads to take part in this Feast (Mt 22:9-10), to be renewed, to be made new, to become “new wineskins” (Mt 9:17) so as to be able to receive and contain the new Wine that has come down from Heaven.
Behold Mary (Lk 1:38–45), an example for all of us, She who was the first to become a ‘new wineskin’ to receive the new Wine. So it was then when Mary, united in the Only-Begotten Love with Him who is Love made Person (Jn 1:14), began His earthly Ministry, as a true Forerunner, She who wished to be and to open the Door: Mary, the Door leading to the Heart of the Son (Act of Magisterium, “Mary, the Holy Door of the children of God”, 24/12/2024).
“They have no more wine” (Jn 2:3) said Mary then. And behold, He who was the Wine began His Mission, anticipating, because Mary, in Her infinite Love, for the sake of Her children, always anticipates.
And so it has been now: this other Mary (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “She who is the synthesis of the prophets and the ancient patriarchs”, 26/07/1996), who received the new Wine descended from Heaven, She who opened wide Her little Heart until it was able to contain the Infinite that is God, to welcome the Divine Child, the new Wine. Just as Jesus said before ascending to Heaven: “ I shall drink no more of the fruit of the vine until I drink it new in the Kingdom” (Mk 14:25).
Here is She who once again has anticipated the times to give her children the chance to prepare in good time. If everything had happened in an instant, this humanity would not have been able to save itself. But here is this Maiden (Act of Magisterium, “Maria G. Norcia”, 21/01/2019), following the example of Mary, the Eternal Maiden, has welcomed into her pure Heart the Word of God, Love incarnate, to give her children the chance to prepare themselves (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Return of Jesus”, 30/10/1994) because, once again, there was no more Wine, there would be no more Wine.
Behold the Holy Spirit, who was contained within a temple that cast Him out to make room for another spirit, which is no longer holy (2 Thessalonians 2:9). And so this Maiden has made Herself a Temple to welcome the Holy Spirit of Love into Her Heart (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Holy Spirit”, 13/09/1984).
Behold the Bridegroom, the Spirit of the Bridegroom who has returned to the Holy City, just as He had promised: “I will return; I will not leave you as orphans” (Jn 14:18). She knew how to hold Him within her little Heart, which had become a Temple, so that she might then distribute Him to all those whom the Father would send here, in due time, to this Land of Love; for all those who would set foot and heart in this Land to be nourished by the living Bread that came down from Heaven (Jn 6:51) and to drink, with the Master, the Fruit of the Vine, so as to be grafted as true branches onto the Vine that gives Life (Jn 15:1-5), eternal Life.
Here is the intertwining of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and Mary (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Immaculate dwells within Us”, 28/06/1983). Here is the relationship between the Most Holy Trinity and Mary. “ “Not the Most Holy Trinity on one side and humanity on the other,” Jesus said, on this Earth, to His Maiden (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “You Are Never Alone”, 28/10/1985), but the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and Mary, the protagonist in this Era of the Holy Spirit, in these times of the History of Salvation.
Behold the Woman clothed with the Sun (Rev 12:1), She who saves through the Only-Begotten Love. Behold this Church which proclaims Mary as Co-Redemptrix and which differs from another house that does not wish it to be affirmed that Mary is Co-Redemptrix. Behold the clear dividing line that exists between one House and another house.
Mary is the dividing line, together with Christ, the one and only Saviour. On the one hand, Mary is proclaimed, as a Dogma of Faith, to be Co-Redemptrix (Pontifical Decree, “In Mary, with Mary and through Mary”, 22/12/2019); on the other, the faithful are forbidden to venerate her as Co-Redemptrix.
On the one hand, it is forcefully proclaimed that Christ is the sole Saviour of the world (Act of the Magisterium, “Communion in the One Faith: Christ”, 11/05/2025); on the other, it is affirmed and confirmed that all religions lead to God (cf. Jn 10:1-6). Behold, dear brothers, the clear difference that exists between one House (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Holy City”, 23/06/1996) and another house (Rev 18:10).
Whoever wishes to be saved, in these hard and difficult times, should invoke and consecrate themselves to the Immaculate Conception of the Holy Spirit and become a “new wineskin” in His image and likeness, in the image and likeness of Mary, so that the Life of the Son of God, the eternal Life (Jn 17:3), One, Holy and Universal, may dwell in their heart.
Here is the Word of God bursting anew into History and becoming incarnate. This is the Place to be reconciled with God and to prepare to live the eternal Easter (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Holy Place of Jesus’ Return”, 19/02/1995) . This is the time before us, dear brothers and sisters: not a time of fasting, but a time of true charity and true prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17). True fasting will be experienced by those who, deprived of the Holy Spirit, will no longer be able to feed on the living Bread that came down from Heaven. For them, fasting will be bitter and inconsolable (Amos 8:11–12).
Whoever wishes to be reconciled with God, come here, set foot here, walk the true Way of Reconciliation (that which is called the “Road to Salvation”), which leads to the “Square of Reconciliation”, where one receives the Fatherly and Motherly Embrace so as to be grafted into the “Courtyard of the Only-Begotten Love” and be grafted into Him who is Life (Act of Magisterium, “Love is Life”, 05/12/2021).
This is the path to which everyone is called today, all those who wish to be saved by the Father, for the Father has established here, in this Place, His Dwelling, His Tent (Rev 21:3), and awaits His children like a Father who longs to embrace them all, one by one (Lk 13:34).
This is the Way that has been laid out, the Path that everyone is called and invited to follow. This is that marvellous Oasis (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Source of Mercy and Peace”, 19/04/1998) which the Father, with His whole Being, has destined for His children, putting His Heart into it, once again His Heart, putting Himself on the line once more for the love of His children, so that all may return to the right Path to put into practice the Teachings that were and are of Christ the Lord (Jn 13:15) , who in this world gave Himself as a sacrificial Victim to offer to all His living Example of total surrender to the Father’s Will, suffering to grant Love to all and rejoicing in Heaven, sending down upon this Earth infinite Holiness so as to save His children, His brothers (Jn 20:17).
Behold the Wine, the Fruit of the Vine, whose Sacrifice must not be squandered. This, dear brothers, is our sacrifice. Sacrum facere: we must ‘make sacred’ every day of our lives so as not to squander the ‘Sacrifice of sacrifices’ made by Him who sacrificed Himself, the Lamb slain (Rev 5:6), the sacrificial Victim for our Salvation. This is the sacrifice to which we are called (Rom 6:13) to fast from all that is sin, to fast from all that is of the world, and to be able to rejoice in all that is of God, to be nourished by the Love of the Word made flesh and, in turn, to be an example so that we may offer this example to all those who, upon receiving it, will wish to do the same.
Behold the Presence of the Bridegroom, of the Holy Spirit, Love, who has come down to this Earth (Act of Magisterium, “Love has become flesh and dwells among us”, 13/06/2022) . Behold, this Example of Holiness, beloved brothers and sisters, must now return to being the Centre, just as has been clearly stated in recent Catecheses, to which so many have been invited from North to South, on this Earth and elsewhere.
Certainly, the first example must be set by the inhabitants of Jerusalem, those who above all are called to give, rather than to take. One comes to Jerusalem, one dwells where the King’s Residence is, to make oneself available, to help one’s brothers and sisters, to set an example, so that all those who arrive may come and take their cue from those who are meant to be examples. For this reason, God demands more from those who are close, so that they may then welcome those who are far away. Away with all impatience! Let joy, the heart, morale and passion soar, so that we may live and bring all this to life!
We have found grace with God, dear brothers and sisters, never forget this (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “Joy Even in Suffering”, 01/01/1989). Great is the Grace we have found and received freely. And now we are called to give freely. To give what? To give love, to give prayer, to give humility, to give availability, to give a listening ear, to give life. This is the Bread of God, who came down from Heaven, who wishes to nourish and feed His children (Jn 6:33). Others, as mentioned, will be those who fast, just as this passage of the Gospel tells us.
Three categories are highlighted by the Evangelist: the sect of the Pharisees, the disciples of John and the disciples of Jesus; three categories. How can we not think of what is written in the Book of Revelation, when it speaks of the city that would be divided into three parts (Rev 16:19)? One part; second part; third part.
The first part: the Pharisees, those who, driven by an unclean spirit, destroyed the temple by usurping what was sacred and committing the greatest sacrilege, committing the crime of Deicide in the hearts of so many little ones (Mk 4:15).
The second part: here are the disciples of John – John, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Those who listened to him followed the Action of the Holy Spirit, now as then. Others, who consider themselves anchored to tradition, who wish to remain firmly anchored to tradition, having understood the deception of the Pharisees’ sect, are nevertheless called to take a further step to become disciples, once again, of the Master (Jn 1:37–39). Those who love tradition, and who succeed in and wish to take this step in the light of the Holy Spirit’s invitation—whom they claim to honour—will be saved and will find themselves in the third part, the third category: the children of Jesus, once again; the children of the Master, once again; the Master who came down from Heaven, that Jesus who came down here to save His children (Act of Magisterium, “God is Love and dwells in the Little Cradle”, 31/08/2025), now as then. Everything returns, dear brothers.
Three categories, just as there are three parts of the City, just as there are three groups: those placed among the “cold”, among the “lukewarm” and among the “hot”. And as the Revelation tells us once again, the “cold” will not enter the Kingdom, nor will the “lukewarm”. “Oh, that you were either cold or hot! But since you are neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth” (Rev 3:15–16). Here is the second category which, if it does not take the second and decisive step to join the Master and His new disciples, being regarded as “lukewarm”, will be spewed out and will meet the same fate as the sect of the Pharisees.
Pray, dear brothers and sisters, in this time that lies before us, that every written word may be fulfilled. And when all is fulfilled, when you see God’s Action being fulfilled (Mic 7:15), do not look back. Whoever has put his hand to the plough is called to go forward (Lk 9:62). Go forward so that you may reach the final Goal. Do not look back, just as Jesus said when He brought down Fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah. Go out, but without looking back, for whoever looks back will be turned to stone (Gen 19:17). And so it was then.
Behold the Mercy of God that will embrace the children, just as Justice will descend to grant justice to the righteous (Act of the Magisterium, “Father, grant Peace to Your children and Justice to the righteous”, 07/12/2025). Behold, in this time there is no place for the doubtful, just as we have heard in the Revelation that will be recalled this week, that of 19 February 1995, that great Revelation where Jesus says: “Behold, I want there to be this certainty in each of you, for in my new Kingdom there can be no place for the uncertain and the doubters” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “The Holy Place of Jesus’ Return”, 19/02/1995).
We must be rocks, for ourselves and for those who wish to cling to the Rock (1 Pet 2:5), just as the children of God cling to Him who is the Rock. For when Babylon falls, the crash will be great and many will be terrified. Not so for the children of God. It is written that Babylon will fall; in the Book of Revelation, chapter 18, the Evangelist proclaims: “Woe, woe, great city, whose luxury has enriched all who had ships at sea! In a single hour she has been reduced to a desert! Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you, saints, apostles and prophets, for God has avenged you by judging Babylon!’ Then a mighty angel took a stone as large as a millstone and threw it into the sea, exclaiming: ‘With the same violence will Babylon, the great city, be cast down, and she will never rise again. The sound of harpists and musicians, of flute-players and trumpeters, shall be heard no more in you; and no craftsman of any trade shall be found in you any more; and the sound of the millstone shall be heard no more in you; and the light of the lamp shall shine no more in you; and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard no more in you.” (Rev 18:19–23). In one house the Bridegroom is present and there is celebration; in another house the Bridegroom’s voice is no longer heard, and so there is endless fasting.
Behold, in order to rediscover and help so many rediscover the true Faith (2 Tim 1:13), this Faith – beloved brothers – must be fresh, new, just as new wine is received in new wineskins. This is what God now asks of His children, of every heart, to love ever more the One who gives Life. Herein lies the freshness of the Faith (Rom 1:17) and devotion to Christ and Mary, as Mother Church proclaimed in the Universal Message of 1 January this year (Magisterial Document, “The Freshness of Faith and Devotion to Christ and Mary”, 01/01/2026). This is the New Jerusalem: to be one with the Owner of the Vineyard, the eternal Vineyard (Mt 20:1). This is what Jesus did in His first Coming, going about and making known the Master of the Vineyard (Jn 15:1), unlike the masters who were roaming the world, who subjugated, enslaved, and tortured people morally and spiritually.
Here is the different teaching that the Son of God had come to give to the world; here is His Wisdom, which left hearts astonished by this fresh, new, true, precise and living teaching (Jn 4:34). Despite this, few followed Him after He had done so much good, and for a paltry meal, He was betrayed once more, condemned to death, believing they had killed Him, yet unaware that His Life had multiplied in so many, granting access to eternal Life for all, which will now be fulfilled in this Corner of Paradise (Rev 21:6).
Behold, dear brothers and sisters, I repeat once more: our sacrifice, to ‘sanctify’ and complete all this, will come to an end—not to cease, but to begin anew and never end again (Rev 21:5).
Here is true freedom (Jn 8:36): “Do not do what pleases me,” each one must say, but “do what pleases You, my Lord.” This is the true freedom to which we are called (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “To die in order to live, to lose in order to gain”, 24/03/1985)” . It is time to rediscover the true Light, the true Faith, to return to believing, to living, to loving and truly understanding what true freedom is, so that we may exclaim: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13). To do well what is good in the eyes of Him who is the Supreme Good: this is the freedom of the children of God, that healthy, holy, living freedom.
We must return to the time when all this was lived out, to the time when love and prayer were practised in families, those healthy and holy habits that have now been lost and scattered in so many families. Here too is the prayer that marks the day, from the morning before going out, that holy prayer that sends you out armoured, strengthened by God, in God and for God, and then, at the end of the day, in the evening Holy Rosary, offering everything to the Lord through Mary.
This is the Love that flows through families, that holy dialogue which must return to the centre so that we may place Jesus and Mary at the heart of daily life. We must return to living and practising this in order to live well the time that lies before us and which will lead us to Easter, to celebrate the eternal Easter that will never end (Rev 19:7).
Remain alive in the heart, children of God, with your gaze lifted high to contemplate the Face of the Father who is revealed in the Son of God, the one and eternal Goodness.
To Mary, my Mother and yours, I entrust you once more, so that each of you may consecrate yourselves to her Immaculate Heart. Consecrate your lives to Mary, the Immaculate and Co-Redemptrix (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, “Mary, I consecrate myself to You”, 10 March 1986). Entrust your hearts to her every day and sing hymns, united with Mary, to Him who is King, King of kings and Lord of lords (Rev 19:16).
Behold Mary, Ark of the New Covenant (Lk 1:43), Eternity, where whoever wishes to live must pass through this Ark to be one with the Son of God. This is the joy of the Holy Father, who has given us this Land of Love, at the moment when He sees all His children arriving here, all the exiles, all the spiritual refugees, so that He may welcome them before the Little Crib of the Baby Jesus, to adore the Son of God and to be in Him, with Him and for Him, for eternity (Rev 22:3-4). So be it.
