Feast of the Holy Trinity
Gospel: Matthew 28,16-20
May 27, 2018
Homily of the Pontiff Samuel
(Draft)
After Pentecost, another great feast of Christianity is that of the Holy Trinity, which invites all Christians to meditate and live one of the main mysteries of Christianity, unfathomable and inaccessible to human mind, the Mystery of the One and Triune God, unique God who reveals and manifests Himself in Three Persons, Equal and Distinct: “Equal”, because they are united in the same divine essence; “Distinct”, because God, even though being One, manifests Himself in Three different Persons.
The passage from Matthew’s Gospel tells us of the final passage in which Jesus speaks to His disciples – the eleven remained faithful to Him (Judas, the traitor, was dead) – to instruct them again. Despite His resurrection and His subsequent apparitions as Risen, someone among them still doubted (Mt 28:17b). And this should make us reflect. The temptation of doubt and discouragement is in fact always lurking, even among Christians, even among those who, after having received so much, should never doubt. This is why the spirit of each of us must always be ready, vigilant, trained, so to avoid, after having received so much, to fall into temptation, to doubt, and to not welcome the revelation of God in history or, even worse, to betray, as Judas did, thus nullifying the action of God and the Baptism received in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus rounds up the disciples and, in order to remove any doubt, speaks to them with great authority – “All authority in Heaven and on Earth has been given to me”, says Jesus (Mt 28:18) -, commanding them what they should have done as a conclusion of His teaching: to make disciples of all nations, to proselytise, to baptise all in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19), so that everyone, from creature, may become “son” of God (Jn 1:12, 1Jn 3:1a), by virtue of the Baptism received. And Jesus would have helped His faithful disciples in doing so, by remaining with them until the end of times (Mt 28:19-20), by means of the Holy Spirit, whose action would certainly not have been depleted in the time of Pentecost lived by the first disciples in those days, but that would have continued every day, until the end of the world, until the end of times, when the Holy Spirit would have been definitively manifested to bring everyone to glorify Jesus (Jn 16:14), to adore Jesus and to recognize, in Jesus, “the” Saviour (Lk 2:11, Jn 4:32; Acts 5:31; 13:23), the only Saviour of humanity, sent by the Father.
So this is the essence of Christianity, which no one can ever sell‑off or water‑down. Here is then the need to proselytise, so that everyone may be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, as Jesus commanded those eleven disciples who remained faithful to Him.
This teaching of Jesus is everlasting and nobody can change it: it is valid now as it was then. The true disciples faithful to Jesus are those who, animated by the Holy Spirit, are ready to do anything to do His will, even to offer their own life, if necessary, as an extreme witness, so that everyone, embracing the faith in Christ, may have life and have it to the full (Jn 10:10).
This is what has been always taught by the Church of Christ, the true Church, the Mother of Christians, that has always honoured Her martyrs, Her witnesses, who have given their lives to bring the Gospel to the whole world, dying and shedding their blood for the love of the Commandment of Jesus, for the love of His teachings: Jesus, who asked His disciples to proselytise, so to bring everyone to believe in the one only religion wanted by God the Father Almighty for the whole world.
He who declares himself to be a disciple of Jesus or even more, who declares himself to be the successor of Peter – therefore the guardian of those teachings – but does not respect the Commandment of Jesus, and teaches, even worse, to do the opposite, is a betrayer of Jesus and of Christianity. He who stated that proselytism is a “solemn nonsense” and a “great sin”, betrays Christ and His Commandment to proselytise, to go and teach and baptize all peoples in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Mt 28:19).
The current teachings of who at the top of the Church of Rome, are contrary to the teachings of Jesus. All religious confessions cannot be put on the same level. All what in reality is a real betrayal of the Commandment of Jesus, cannot be passed off as “respect” for other religious confessions. Doing so is betraying God and the sacrifice of many martyrs who have sacrificed themselves for proselytising, for bringing the one and only religion wanted by God the Father Almighty to all nations.
The one only true Saint Francis was ready to give His life, to sacrifice Himself, in order to convert Muslims to Christianity. Now this is not said anymore. Now on the contrary, it is taught to do the opposite, rebuking the Christians who would want to convert everyone to Christianity. The church of the Roman pontiff is no longer the house of true Christians. That church is no longer a mother for Christians, but she has become a stepmother, as the Apostle John had prophesied in the Book of the Revelation, describing her as the one who is drunk with the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus (Rev 17:6a), whose sacrifice is now risking to be nullified. This is why John, the Apostle of Love, is mystified (Rev 17:6b). But the Angel shakes him, so to not lose heart (Rev 17:7) but to spiritually fight against a new church that now manifests itself to the world as it was prophesied at that time, a church that proselytizes against Christ and His teachings, that wants to bring everyone in a new idea of church, that welcomes and instructs everyone into a new world religion where Christ and His teachings are no longer the centre, but are again discarded, distorted, humanized and, in many cases, ridiculed, as has happened even with reference to the Feast we’re celebrating today, that of the Most Holy Trinity.
On 17 March 2017, the Roman pontiff publicly stated that: “Inside the Most Holy Trinity, they are all quarrelling behind closed doors, while outside the image is of unity”. These statements are blasphemous, desecrating and with unprecedented gravity, for ridiculing one of the greatest dogmas and Mysteries of Christianity, that of the One and Triune God, which the Roman pontiff ridicules and humanizes, as if God may quarrel with Himself, making God appear as a hypocritical God, who has a face inside and shows another in public.
The Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is sacred and no one is allowed to ridicule It and to desecrate It. God, by means of a child, replied to St. Augustine, who tried to probe the depth of the Most Holy Trinity, that it would be easier to transport the whole sea in a small hole dug in the sand rather than comprehend the Mystery of the Trinity with a human mind. And we all know that St. Augustine is awarded by the title of “Doctor of the Church” for his science and wisdom. Therefore, not the last arrived but a great saint of Christendom.
The Mysteries of God are in fact unfathomable for human minds. They are to be welcomed with heart, with respect, not ridiculed. And they must be lived in profound humility, in live abandonment to the action of the Spirit of Truth (Jn 15:26) who, as Jesus promised, would have made men comprehend the complete Truth (Jn 16:13). Here is the action of the Father in history. Here is the Era of the Holy Spirit that manifests Himself in this Land of Love.
Abandoning ourselves to the action of the Holy Spirit, the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity takes shape and body. And we may understand the action of the Father, the Creator, who in this Land is essence, the One Who brings all His sons back to Himself, so to make everyone live in His Heart of Good and Holy Father, for eternity; and we may understand the action of His Son, the Redeemer, Who by his resurrection has initiated the Mystery of salvation; and we may understand the action of the Holy Spirit, the One Who gives Life, that was sent by the Father to this Land of Love to lead everyone to the full and complete understanding of Jesus’ Truth (Jn 16:13-15).
The Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is not a joke, where inside they quarrel and outside appear to be united. The Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is a Mystery of Love, that binds God to His sons, and that unites His sons in a true, sincere, total bond of brotherhood.
Where brotherhood is not present, there cannot be holiness. In the Most Holy Trinity, there is no quarrelling, neither behind closed doors nor at open doors. The place where there is quarrelling, both behind closed and open doors, is in the church of Rome, where there no longer is brotherhood but only competition and selfishness, where – as it had been prophesied – there are cardinals against cardinals, bishops against bishops, priests against priests, brothers against brothers, sisters against sisters.
The Most Holy Trinity dwells in the Church where the Spirit of Christ is alive. And from the fruits that each tree produces, it will be understood which are the true disciples of Jesus, those who have remained faithful to Him, those who teach everyone to put His teachings and His commandments into practice. And so it will be understood who are the false prophets of which Jesus speaks in the Gospel (Mt 7:15-20), those who appear to be good but are bad inside, that Jesus describes as ravenous wolves. Just the opposite of being shepherds having the smell of sheeps!
In the Church where the Most Holy Trinity dwells, there aren’t quarrels and there will never be. Harmony and brotherhood return to being the centre of everything: true brothers and true sisters, who do not live in competition, “all against all”, but who live the harmony, the unity, the “one for all and all for one”, which is the motto of this Church, so to bring everyone to Jesus.
Whoever wants to understand the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, is to look to Mary. Mary, the totally beautiful, the totally pure, is the One who contains It perfectly. Mary is the Tabernacle Sacred to God, in whom the Most Holy Trinity took stable residence before time; before Her earthly manifestation; before She saw the Light for Her being in the Light before time, when the One and Triune God already was. By living Mary, by meditating She who is the “blessed among all women” (Lk 1:42), She who is “full of grace” (Lk 1:30), She who is at the same time “Daughter, Bride and Mother of God”, then the Mystery of God, One and Triune, becomes easier to understand. Here is that, even in Mary, the Trinitarian Mystery becomes substance. Mary Daughter of God; Mary Bride of God; Mary Mother of God. In Mary Coredemptrix, the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is alive. Jesus saves, Mary saves: He the Redeemer, She the Coredemptrix: two mysteries unfathomable and incomprehensible to human mind, just as the Mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is unfathomable and incomprehensible.
«Come, you all, who are journeying to meet God. Come to this Land of Love, to lay down every weight and every chain at the foot of this Tabernacle. The Spirit of the Risen Christ awaits you. Those who sincerely ask forgiveness will be forgiven. Every creature will be welcomed and baptized, so that everyone, from north to south, from east to west, united in the one only Spirit, can raise their eyes to Heaven and proclaim: “Abba, Father!” » (Gal 4:6).
On this holy day, let us entrust and abandon ourselves once again to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, without ever doubting, being sure that in Her pure and holy Motherly Heart, every Truth of God will be understood, the more we will succeed, on Her example, in making ourselves humble and little, so to be filled with the grace of God, because God will reveal everything to His little children (Mt 11:25-26). Mary, Mother Church, again, now and always, I consecrate myself to you. And so be it.
