PONTIFICAL DECREE
Establishment of the Solemn Feast
of Christian Faith
PREFACE
Jesus said: “If you had a faith as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you” (Lk 17:6). Everything can be obtained through the faith in Him for whom all things are possible. These are the days when many have lost their faith, as prophesied by Jesus: ‘But when the Son of Man comes, will he find any faith on earth?’
Faith in Jesus obtains every grace according to the Father’s will. Jesus is salvation. ‘God saves’ is His Name. There are many healings and miraculous signs obtained throughout history by invoking the Name of Jesus, as reported in the Gospels.
‘These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing this, you may have life through his Name’ (Jn 20:31).
‘No one who believes in Him will be condemned, but whoever does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the Name of God’s only begotten Son.’ (John 3:18).
Everyone must be baptised in the Name of Jesus for the remission of all sins (Acts 2:38).
In the Name of Jesus, ‘every knee shall bend in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, and every tongue shall acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Lord, to the glory of God the Father’ (Phil 2:10-11).
