Beloved Faithful, today the Mother Church celebrates the Feast of the Word Incarnate, the Feast of the Annunciation of the Archangel Gabriel to Mary, She who, through her ‘yes’, initiates the Plan of Love and Redemption of the Father, Who then sent into the world at that time a part of His Heart who came to Life in the Womb of Mary.
The Mystery of the Incarnation is the supreme Mystery of Love and the foundation of Christianity.
“And the Word became flesh“, wrote the Evangelist in the prologue of His Gospel. The Holy Spirit, who is God, performs His Miracle in Mary: the Word, who is God, takes flesh in the bosom of Mary and becomes Man, through the work of the Holy Spirit.
Behold Christ, truly Man and truly God. Human and divine Person. A Man who is, at the same time, God through the work of the Holy Spirit.
This is the Hypostatic Union: the union of divinity and humanity in one Person. Christ, who is Person not created, but begotten by God the Almighty Father, through the work of the Holy Spirit: Christ, the Substance of the Father.
“Mary, You who have begotten Jesus by means of the Holy Spirit; in the same way give birth spiritually to Your only Son Jesus in us, by means of the Holy Spirit”. In this prayer revealed to Maria Giuseppina, we understand the Thought and Action of the Father, that finds acceptance and fulfilment in Mary. Mary welcomes the Divine Word into Her Immaculate Heart, to give fulfilment to the Father’s Project, generating, by the work of the Holy Spirit, the Word in the hearts of Her sons, so that the Word may manifest itself and be welcomed into the hearts of those who, by welcoming Him, become children, as the Evangelist teaches: “To those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believed in his name who were born not from human stock or human desire or human will, but from God himself”. Therefore a new ‘generation’, a new rebirth, from Above, in the Spirit that gives Life in Love. Love: not just a Word to be engraved in hearts, but the Incarnation of the Word of God, so that we may be able to adore and love Him, with veracity.
Here is that the sons of Jesus, born from a woman, are generated again by His pierced Side, by the Water and Blood, by the Spirit and Life of Christ, in an interweaving of Love that unites Christ and Mary in the Only-Begotten Love who is fulfilled in the Trinitarian Mystery.
Here it is that the Immaculate Bosom of Mary is called by God to generate and generate anew, by the power of the Holy Spirit, in order to fully accomplish that Plan of Love and Redemption that had its origin on that holy and solemn Day we celebrate today.
Together, let us give thanks to God the Almighty Father; and together, let us give thanks to Jesus, the Incarnate Word; and together, let us give thanks to Mary, She who is the Full of Grace, She who, by Her ‘yes’, made possible the great Mystery of Love of the Incarnation. And so be it.
