Be the light and the salt of Earth,
to become the saints of God

Feast of Saint Paul’s Conversion
Meditation of the Day by Pontiff Samuel

(Draft)

Dear brothers, from this page of the Gospel, Jesus invites us to be the salt of the Earth that seasons flavour to everything and that heals every wound with the fire of Truth. This is our Call and our mission in these hard and difficult times: to be the salt of this Earth and to bring to everyone the Light that has come into the world.

To be salt means to announce the Truth: those who accept it will find the flavour and the meaning of a life spent for Jesus Who will heal every wound caused by the world and by sin, so to be reborn to new Life and to receive the gift of eternal Life, which can never be a gift, a unilateral gift, but must be, instead, a personal and daily conquest for those who renounce Satan and sin and desire to receive God’s Mercy, embracing God and His Mystery of Love, the Love made flesh, who here is Person.

Here is the Light that has returned to pierce the darkness. Here is the Light that has been placed on high, on this Holy Mountain, to illuminate the Holy City and all the peoples: the sons of God and the men and women of good will.

Those who want to be authentic Christians today, are to become Light; those who want to be Christians today, are to climb this Holy Mountain to meet He who is Light, so they can dwell in this Tabernacle where God is present in Spirit and Life, where the Lord has returned to gather all to Himself in this unique fold.

Today marks the conclusion of the week dedicated to the Christian unity, the day of the conversion of St Paul. Therefore, if Christians truly want to re-unite, they must convert themselves anew, as St. Paul did, and welcome the Mystery of the Child Jesus, He who is Light, He who came down from Heaven to bring His Light once again in this world of darkness, and they must also acknowledge the centrality of Mary’s call in the history of Christianity and consecrate themselves to Her Immaculate Heart. Only in this way can there be true re-union in Christ, banishing every human egoism, every spirit of dominance over one another, all that has led Christians to division.

This is the time for every son of God to aspire to the full holiness, without compromise or sweetening, to thus live as dead towards the world and its adulations and to be reborn to new life, from Above, in God’s Spirit, who has descended here to draw everyone to Himself.

This world is suffering from violence. And this violence will unfortunately increase. You, sons of God, be victorious with the power of Love. Be stronger than every human violence and every human injustice and conquer all with Love. Remain in communion of heart, soul and spirit with Christ the Love and nothing will be lacking. This is the life of the saints, those who have lived to be salt and light, leaven and leafy trees in whose shade, their brothers and sisters can find refreshment.

Those who want to be perfect, are to put love for their brothers and sisters at the centre of their lives. No one can say to love God if they are incapable to overcome their own “self” and consequently to love their brother and sister, even in their limitations and difficulties. In order to live true brotherhood, the limit that must not exist is the lack of loyalty: where there is no loyalty and where there is falsehood, there can never be true brotherhood. They place themselves outside the brotherhood, with a behaviour that does not befit those who want to live Jesus and the Holy City.

And you, brothers, hold fast the hands of Mary and consecrate yourselves daily to Her Immaculate Heart in order to bring Jesus into the hearts of everyone, that same Jesus who came down here to dwell with His sons. Here is the New Jerusalem, the Holy City, the metaphysical City where the Love of God may be experienced and where its inhabitants want and must be holy.

And so be it.
