Let us contemplate the pain
Mary offered for love

6th Friday of Lent
Meditation of the day of Pontiff Samuel

(Draft)

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Dear brothers and dear sisters, on this sixth Friday of Easter we contemplate Our Lady of Sorrows and the sword that pierced Her soul. By contemplating Our Lady of Sorrows we meditate on Her pain: a pain offered for love; an obedient love that accepted the test, so to do God’s will up to the end. This is Mary. She who made Herself handmaid for love of the Lord, She who remained obedient to the end, wanting to do the will of the Father, without ever failing, without ever betraying, without ever thinking of having been deceived by the Father.

The teaching of our Lady Mary of Sorrows is alive. What She experienced at that time is now more relevant than ever, because the example of Mary allows all those who love Her Son, to welcome and live every trial with love and living obedience, to do the will of the Father to the end, without ever rebelling, without ever betraying their Call, without ever letting the human thought gain the upper hand on the divine thought.

“Self” has never been in Mary. God has dwelt in Mary since ever. The grace of God has been in Mary since ever. Mary is the Tabernacle of the Holy Spirit; Mary has been at the service of God from ever and on the day of Her wedding with Heaven, She openly said to the Angel: (Luk 1:38) “You see before you the Lord’s servant, let it happen to me as you have said”. “Fiat” (that means “Let it be done”). God has accepted those words. And thanks to that “yes”, Mary has been made even stronger by the Father’s Omnipotence, that has even more accompanied Mary from that moment on, leading Her to welcome and overcome every trial, even the most painful. By means of love, Mary has accepted and won everything, co‑participating and helping Her Son in accomplishing everything in perfection.

Mary accepted that Her Son ascended Mount Calvary and that He was crucified on Golgotha because She knew that that was the Father’s will. And although torn apart and mangled by an unspeakable pain in the depths of Her heart, heart of Mother and heart of woman, She never doubted and always remained obedient to the Father’s will, drinking the Chalice to the end, so to seal together with Her Son the new Covenant, through that pain offered for love and that blood shed together.

In one of His revelations to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, Jesus showed Her the meeting of Jesus with His mother, along the way of the Cross. “At the sight of Her beloved Son” Our Lady was torn by pain and in Her heart She would have wanted to cry out to Her Son: “You have suffered long enough!”, Maria Giuseppina wrote, and then added: “But turning her eyes, she saw me and in an heroic act of love she said to her Son: «Go ahead and accomplish everything”. From this I understood – says Maria Giuseppina, concluding – the love up to the extreme consequences requires a total gift of oneself”. From the example of life of this Maiden, we understand how only love soothes all suffering, when the suffering becomes an offering to God. This is Mary. Here is the union of the Marian suffering that proceeds in history, united to the suffering of the Son, who proceeds in history, in a single offer so pleased to the Father for the fulfilment of His will and the triumph of His Love. He who discards Mary, he who discards Her sacrifice, he who discards Her passion, is discarding Christ and His passion. I say again: this is the true throwaway culture that must be eradicated from the hearts of all the Christians, so to ward off the wind of apostasy and of indifference that in these hard and difficult times, the last times of Christianity, sadly reigns in the hearts of many.

On Golgotha, the Son entrusted all His children to His Mother, who at that moment was well aware of her role as Coredemptrix of humanity. By welcoming John the Apostle, She accepted the invitation of Her Son to manifest Herself as Coredemptrix, welcoming all the sons of that time and those of future times, to bring all to Her Son.

The pain of the Mother is inseparably linked to the pain of the Son. Mary offers Herself for love for Jesus, to help Her Son, co‑participating in the Mystery of the Redemption. Thus the Coredemptrix joins the Redeemer to lead all God’s sons to salvation. And thus the martyrs and saints of God join the Redeemer and the Coredemptrix, offering their lives and their existence to the Father to co‑participate in the Mystery of Salvation, on the example of Jesus and of Mary. The first apostles, after Jesus’ death, no longer able to hold the hands of the Master, searched for and found the hands of Mary, to whom Jesus had entrusted them. And thanks to those hands, the Apostles became strong, they were definitively strengthened, to be ready in turn to participate in the Mystery of the Redemption, after the Descent of the Holy Spirit. In his letter to the Colossians, St. Paul says: “It makes me happy to be suffering for you now, and in my own body to make up all the hardships that still have to be undergone by Christ for the sake of his body, the Church”. By saying this, St. Paul manifests his desire to co‑participate with Christ and with Mary Mother Church.

True Christians must well understand that the Passion of Christ began in Mary’s womb. Even the Passion of Christ is an itinerary, of Christ and of his sons: an itinerary which was born in Mary and is fulfilled with Mary, for the triumph of the Sacrifice of the Son and the victory of all Christianity, which finds fulfilment in the Father.

This is what all the sons of the Mother Church are now called to: to undertake this journey with love, facing and offering every trial for the love of Christ and Mary, co-participating in the Mystery of Redemption that will find complete fulfilment in the New Jerusalem, with the defeat of evil and the consequent victory of the sons of God who, overcoming their trial, will not die but will live a new life: they will live in new Heavens and in a new Earth, so living the promised Kingdom, as it is written in the Sacred Scripture.

«Praise and honour to You, Lord Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords. Praise and honour to You, Mary, Handmaid, Mother and Coredemptrix, You who had been able to offer your immense pain for the love of the Lord, co-participating to the very end in his living, continuous and throbbing Mass. For this we praise and thank You today, Holy Mother. Make us humble, docile and obedient, perseverant and strong, to join You and offer everything to the Lord: our life and our daily existence, to co-participate in the Mystery of the Redemption, in union with You. And for the immense pain You offered for love of the Lord, today we ask You once again: Mother, save your sons. Mother, save those who entrust themselves to You. Mother, save those of good will. Show everyone the way that leads to the Land of Love, where your Son has established His home, so that everyone may receive His infinite mercy and be saved. And so be it»
