This is the time of the New Covenant.
From Above the Son will come to judge
the living and the dead
Gospel: John, Chap 5, verses 19-30
June 30th, 2024
Homily of the Pontiff Samuel
(Draft)
Here is the Son who wants to do the Will of He who sent Him (Jn 5:30). Here are the sons who, listening to the voice of the Son, want to do the Will of the Holy Father, who has wanted and wants to bring everything to fulfilment.
We have come, dear brothers and sisters, to the end of this month dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and we want to honour the Heart of Jesus until the end, allowing ourselves to be permeated by these words of life of this living dialogue between the Father and the Son (Jn 5:20), in which the Son makes us understand His relationship with the Father, giving us the opportunity to understand even now that intimate bond, not acknowledged by many, that profound bond that leads the Son to be united with the Father and the Father to be united with the Son, so that Father and the Son may be one (Jn 17:23).
Here is the central mystery of Christianity: the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, being one. This is the dialogue that we are going to deepen today, so I ask for your attention, I ask for your concentration in order to be able to penetrate in depth this dialogue that leads us to experience the intimacy of the Heart of the Father united to the Heart of the Son.
This dialogue begins with Jesus calling our attention three times saying: “In all truth I tell you” First point: “by himself the Son can do nothing; he can do only what he sees the Father doing: and whatever the Father does the Son does too” (Jn 5:19) and this first statement of Jesus immediately brings us to another passage in the Gospel of John where John records what Jesus says: ‘I and the Father are one.’ (Jn 10:30). And this concept was reaffirmed by the Holy Father in a Revelation to Maria Giuseppina that we celebrated a few days ago, on the anniversary of the 28th of June, called ‘The Immaculate Dwells in Us’, where the Father speaks and says: “Point out to men the right path and the New Era that is being realized in this place. My POWER is divided within US THREE DIVINE PERSONS. The movement WE make is equal and consistent throughout“. (Revelation of God the Father Almighty to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, ‘The Immaculate Dwells in Us’, 28 June 1983). Here is the Son, here is the Father, in this oneness that binds Them.
Second passage of the speech of Jesus: “In all truth I tell you, whoever listens to my words, and believes in the one who sent me, has eternal life; without being brought to judgement such a person has passed from death to life’ (Jn 5:24). What death, what life? The Book of Revelation helps us to understand what death and what life Jesus is talking about. In the Gospel, Jesus says, at one point, to the young man who wanted to follow Him but wanted to go to his father first: “Leave the dead to bury their dead; your duty is to go and spread the news of the kingdom of God” (Lk 9:60). And in the Book of Revelation, John again, speaking of the one hundred and forty-four thousand, says: ‘Behold those sealed from every tribe of the children of Israel. These are the people who have been through the great tribulation; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb. This is why they are standing in front of God’s throne and serving him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them. They will never hunger or thirst again; sun and scorching wind will never plague them, because the Lamb who is at the heart of the throne will be their shepherd and will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes’ (Rev 7:4, 14-17).
Here is the first Resurrection. Here is the transition from death to life, already in this life, leaving behind all that is sin, all that is evil, in order to rise again already from now to new life and to live a life of saints (Rev 14:12), the saints who must manifest themselves more and more in these last times by their example and by their behaviour. And these words of the Apocalypse draw on Isaiah, both in chapters 4 and 49 (Is 49:8-10), in which there is that ‘literature of the Sprout,’ proposed by Isaiah to us again and again (Is 4:2), leading us to understand the call of the Messiah.
The third part of this dialogue of Jesus in this Gospel passage is: ‘In all truth I tell you, the hour is coming – indeed it is already here – in which the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and all who hear it will live’ (Jn 5:25). I ask again: what life? What life will they have when they hear and follow the voice of the Son of God?
The time of choice comes for everyone when they hear the voice of the Son of God speaking and giving His Sign to gather His sons where the Father has pitched His Tent (Is 33:20).
And I say to you: just as the Child lying in the manger was the first Sign the Father gave to humanity to make them understand the presence of His Son, sent into the world to begin the Mystery of Redemption in that first Grotto (Lk 2:12), so here is the other and final Sign, in this second and last Grotto ̶ Jesus will say: “there will never be another one ever again” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Holy Spirit”, 13 Sept 1984) – where the Father reveals the presence of the Son to gather His sons once again in the one Sheepfold under the one Shepherd (Jer 50:6), to seal this third and only Covenant so that the sons may listen to the voice of the Father who, through the Son, gathers them and calls them to New Life, to be risen and live already from now the Kingdom, the Kingdom of Jesus, the Kingdom of Mary (Revelation of God the Father Almighty to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Immaculate Dwells in Us”, 28 June 1983). Here is the time of choice to which all are invited today: whoever listens to the voice of the Son of God (Jn 10:16) and comes to gather in the New Jerusalem, the fulfilment of the Scriptures (Rev 3:12), will have Life; whoever, although listening to this invitation, deliberately chooses to not accept it, will not go towards Life.
Another Revelation recurs today, on this day, the 30th of June, that Revelation of 30th of June 1985 called ‘The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union’ in which Jesus says to His Maiden: “Why, then, so much resentment against My Signs? The story of My Passion repeats itself, and once again I am judged and banished, only because I work for human Redemption and for the accomplishment of the New Kingdom of Peace. Ah, the sin against the Holy Spirit, that is the denial of the known Truth, still persists because of the obstinate will and the lack of all disposition towards Forgiveness […] Sin against My Signs may be forgiven, but not the sin against the effects of the Signs in souls. Denying the reality and the origin of My wonders, of My Works, is to deny Me. And on the third day they will be dismayed, terrified, when, from this Cradle, I will give the Sign of My Divinity, that will be Resurrection for few and condemnation for many. To those who presume to have accepted My Word, I will show by deeds that their perversion is great and that it is dangerous to trample upon God’s graces (Revelation of Jesus to Maria G. Norcia, ‘The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union’, 30 June 1985). Here is the Sign that, if accepted, will lead you to rise again; if despised, it will lead you to crucify again (Rev 11:8) the One who came down to draw all to Himself. Behold our Jesus, surrounded by these four, with these rays united to the Father and to the Spirit (Rev 5:6).
And on the third day they will be dismayed (Rev 11:11). Here is this third day that brings us back to this third millennium where everything is being fulfilled (Jn 2:19) and where Jesus, giving the Sign of His Divinity and of His Presence in this Cradle, will draw to Himself those who have listened to His voice (Jn 10:27) and will ward away those who, even though coming, will hear Him say: ‘I do not know you’ (Mt 25:12).
Jesus goes on in this Gospel passage saying: “For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself; and, because he is the Son of man, has granted him power to give judgement” (Jn 5:26-27). He speaks of the judgment, but earlier in John, he had spoken of the judgment; in John 3 we read: “And the judgement is this: though the light has come into the world people have preferred darkness to the light because their deeds were evil” (Jn 3:19). And again, in John 12: “And the judgement is this: Although the light has come into the world people have preferred darkness to the light because their deeds were evil” (Jn 12:31). There would come a time when the Son, by the will of the Father, would have the power of judgment to cast out the prince of this world and all his followers.
We are living in uneasy times, in which defilement is widespread, as Jesus confirms to His Maiden, in the aforementioned Revelation: “The defilement is widespread and has reached the highest echelons […]. Guilt and death now reign over mankind, for there are only few witnesses of the righteous. But it is important that the good grain does not become a darnel” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union”, 30 June 1985). This is the responsibility to what we are called, to what are called the sons of God who want to remain faithful: although noticing a context of defilement, we are to remain righteous (Rev 14:12) so to clearly distinguish the weeds from the wheat (Mt 13:30), for as the demonic action tries in these last times to put-up a smokescreen making it hard to recognise where is the weed and where instead the wheat, upright and firm in faith in order to fulfil the Call.
In this passage of the Gospel, Jesus also says: ‘Do not be surprised at this, for the hour is coming when the dead will leave their graves at the sound of his voice: those who did good will come forth to life; and those who did evil will come forth to judgement’ (Jn 5:28-29). They will hear His voice, says Jesus. Behold, He who is Life will make His voice heard so that those who must rise will rise, and those who instead have done evil will be condemned (Mt 25:41).
It is not true that salvation is free, dear brothers, as it is taught elsewhere. We must now conquer it, so that all may be brought to completion, and help our brothers to understand that the most important thing in this life is to live as saints in order to deserve to receive eternal Life (Jas 1:21). Moreover, in the Book of Revelation it is written: “Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection; the second death has no power over them but they will be priests of God and of Christ and reign with him for a thousand years” (Rev 20:6). First passage, prelude to the second and final passage, mentioned above.
But in the Book of Revelation it is also written: “The sea gave up all the dead who were in it; Death and Hades were emptied of the dead that were in them; and every one was judged as his deeds deserved. Then Death and Hades were hurled into the burning lake. This burning lake is the second death” (Rev 20:13-14). This is the final condemnation and it will take place at the time of judgement: not ‘the end of the world’ but ‘the end of evil’ (Jn 16:11) in order to commence in that new Life, in that new Earth renewed by the Love of God.
Jesus also says in this rich Gospel, brothers, rich, very rich: “By myself I can do nothing; I can judge only as I am told to judge, and my judging is just, because I seek to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me” (Jn 5:30). Here is the Son who behaves in obedience to the Father; and that same Father, in the Revelation “The Immaculate Dwells in Us“, mentioned above, says: “I do not wish to punish man, but he himself has created his own death, thus destroying the Divine Values” (Revelation of God the Father Almighty to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Immaculate Dwells in Us“, 28 June 1983). It is not God who wants to condemn man: it is man who condemns himself when he turns away from God and from divine values.
Here is the devious action of those who belong to the enemy of God, in trying to lower the guard of the sons making them believe that everything is gratuitous, that Jesus forgives always and in any case, so that by lowering their guard against sin they trample on divine values and are then overwhelmed by sin (Gen 3:4); and many will realise this when it is too late.
Here is the will of the sons of God to proclaim and help as many as possible. This is what we must do, namely to welcome the Will of the Father (1Jn 2:17), to welcome the New Jerusalem (Rev 21:10) that the Father has revealed to His Maiden, the fulfilment of the Scriptures: whoever welcomes it will be saved; whoever does not, will not be saved in this third and final Covenant that the Father has made with His Few Remnant People of Israel (Dt 7:7) who have remained faithful to Him.
This is the reason why Jesus says to His Maiden: “I call you insistently to make you understand that this is now a new and decisive journey. This is the time of the New Covenant”, words that so many have heard in the course of time but have not understood. Now, brothers, we must understand them: “If you want to follow Me, you must decide and give your personal testimony, be true Christians and share My compassionate suffering. For you I have endured the pain, for Me you must endure the pain. Fear nothing, for I will always be with you”.
Here it is that salvation comes from the new witnesses, the martyrs who testify with their lives their belonging to God (Jn 15:27). Today, as we celebrate the protomartyrs, they must give us the impetus to be now those new martyrs, those new witnesses who join the saving Sacrifice of Christ. As Jesus says to his Maiden in the Revelation that is recurring today: “The martyrs“, namely the co-redeemers with Christ, “through their sacrifice they gave fulfilment to My Death and Resurrection, to My Passover, in the most heroic and the most perfect manner. They have thus become: the ‘Eternal Privileged Altar’. Their blood united with Mine made their garments white and has been poured out for the Redemption of many. Follow their example” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union”, 30 June 1985).
And who is the best example for us more than the Maiden of God, She who took example and embodied these words in perfection. In these days we are about to celebrate Her ascension to Heaven, Her call (Rom 8:29) and now She is powerfully returning to the centre of our lives to guide us by Her example, having She embodied and put into practice the words we have just heard, having She shared in the Mystery of Co-redemption, having partaken in His Divine nature, just as Jesus said to Her in the Revelation of the Privileged Altar: “My True brothers are those who do My Will and are united to Me through the bonds of Love and Grace, which is a participation in My Divine Nature, and therefore makes them My sons”. (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union”, 30 June 1985).
This is why She loved Him as His Mother loved Him (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, ‘The Return of Jesus’, 30 October 1994) and is called ‘Daughter’ by Jesus. ‘Therefore, they become My sons’: they are those who, through the bonds of Love and Grace, have shared in His Divine nature. And this Maiden has truly partaken in His Divine nature, being filled with His Grace.
Therefore, Jesus says to His Maiden in that Revelation of the Privileged Altar: “My Daughter, I see your holy efforts in making My Truth known, and I confirm them all by immersing them in My Most Precious Blood. Remind those whom I will send you” – it was the year 1985 – “that the destiny and the fruits of the Gospel depend on personal predispositions. It was certainly not My intention to preach the Good News and not be understood. It would have been enough if I had not spoken at all!” (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union”, 30 June 1985).
Salvation does not depend on Jesus alone but depends on the predisposition of the hearer. Everything Jesus does, everything the sons do, everything the Son does, but all must meet the predisposition of the sons otherwise that Word is not incarnate and salvation cannot be.
“Rather, at the risk of being misunderstood, I used parables” says Jesus, “in which only a ray of My Truth shines forth. So that the good ones, eager to fully understand, would question me, thereby obtaining explanation. Those who, instead, didn’t have good will, who didn’t care, remained in their blindness“. (Revelation of Jesus to Maria Giuseppina Norcia, “The Eternal Privileged Altar for the Hypostatic Union”, 30 June 1985).
Then He gave a ray. Jesus foretold that a time would come, and is it now, when the Spirit of Truth would come to bring the sons to the complete Truth. And in the Gospel of John this is clearly stated: “When the Paraclete comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, he will be my witness” (Jn 15:26), “However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he will not be speaking of his own accord, but will say only what he has been told; and he will reveal to you the things to come” (Jn 16:13). Not a ray, but the fullness of the announcement.
Therefore, dear brothers, as always, My invitation is to consecrate ourselves to Mary: “Mary I consecrate myself to You, so that all those whom the Father has entrusted, is entrusting and will entrust to me, may be consecrated in the Truth” (Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Prayer of the Booklet ‘The New Jerusalem, Land of Love’, p. 23). And so be it.
